Seems the most popular "color" these days is GREEN. With Lake Wylie, Fort Mill, and surrounding areas growing at record paces, it is more important than ever to conserve our natural resources.
In the summer and fall of 2007, we all faced the harsh reality of water restrictions due to a drought that prevailed in our region. While droughts are not that common in our area, the water shortage was a widespread wake-up call to our need to monitor and conserve our resources. Water, electricity, and fuel demands need to be minimized, especially as our region continues to grow in population.
Luckily, the home construction industry is responding to this eye on conservation by building houses that are energy efficient and include other features that reduce the strain on our environment. In addition, current homeowners have many new options to increase the efficiency of their homes in small and large ways.
